KCCA Proposes To Double Billboard Advertising Fees

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has proposed to increase the fees for building plans and outdoor advertising by a massive 100 percent as contained in the ministerial statement for KCCA for 2018/19 tabled earlier this month by Kampala minister Betty Kamya. Previously, a square metre of area to be covered by each floor was charged Ugx.1, 000. The new rates will see the fee double to Ugx.2, 000 per square metre.

The minister attributed this development to the changing economic situation. KCCA has struggled to make ends meet with its planned projects due to financial shortfalls and it looks to this to change the tide.

This is in the wake of almost every government regulator increasing fees following Uganda Revenue Authority’s moves to widen the tax base through accessing private bank details to social media taxation.
